Sports Clubs

In addition to three PE lessons per week, sporting clubs include:


Ball Skills

This popular club is run on Wednesday afternoons by Mrs Brown and Miss Plumridge for children in Years 1-3. This aim is introduce new sports and skills while improving motor skills.


Saturday Football

Our teams play in leagues with other independent and local schools. Saturday Football is run by a trained Football Coach focusing on the techniques as well as match practice. The club runs 9.30am to 11.00am.



Children from Year 2 upward will swim with school. Lessons take place at St Joseph’s College or Dulwich College and children are transported by school minibus.

The lessons are tailored to each child’s development and culminate in the swim gala in July every year where house points are earned.



This is an informal club for children to increase their gymnastic ability and increase overall fitness levels. Successful children are invited to participate in local competitions.



Netball club runs in the autumn term to increase team play, motor skills and overall fitness. Teams take part in league matches. Also, the club assists in preparation to play and theory of the sport.



At Virgo Prep School, many of our pupils have been talent spotted by clubs through our hosting events with ISA and local schools.

Football is offered to boys and girls through PE, playtime and as a regular club on a Saturday morning. Successes include representation at national level with ISA teams and assisting pupils playing for Fulham, Chelsea and Crystal Palace academies. Regular matches are held throughout the season.



In addition to PE lessons, children can undertake Athletics training. The club takes place with PE staff on the playing field for long jump, javelin, hurdles and shot-put training during the summer term.


Tae Kwon Do

This popular club runs on Thursday with children increasing knowledge of this martial art while training towards grading. Tae Kwon Do promotes concentration and co-ordination.


Walking Club

With great surroundings and our interesting in healthy living, children are invited to supervised walks through the school grounds with opportunities for exploration with exercise.


Ball Club

Our newest club! Ball skills are an important part of overall development. This club runs on a Wednesday after school for children in Years 1 – 3 to assist in their co-ordination and motor skills while playing with friends.


Sporting Breakfast Club

This club runs from 7.30am – 8.30am for children who need to arrive to school early. Staff provide age related sporting activities for the children in a safe and stimulating environment.

Activities include gymnastics, climbing, cricket, athletics and games. The children also participate in the planning of activities. Breakfast includes fresh fruit, juices, yoghurts, wholemeal toast and cereal.

Staff trained in sporting activities and first aid supervise the Breakfast Club including Mr Ridgeon and Mrs Duke. Sessions are charged at £5.00 per child per day. Charges are only made for the service attended and invoiced every half term.
